CHAPTER FOUR

“He’s protected by a glamour.” Lucian and Tobias sat in Cullen’s office following their visit with Lachlan Edwards and the Dragon King.

"A glamour, isn't that Fae magic?" Cullen asked a bit taken aback by the news.

"It's not magic; it's an illusion. The Fae bend perception, they don't actually change reality." Lucian explained why the magic detectors did not pick up on anything. Cullen nodded his understanding.

“So why would a young human male be protected by a Fae glamour?” Tobias asked the obvious question.

“They’re hiding him and he is probably not human.” Lucian offered.

“From what?” Cullen shot back.

"I don't know, but maybe he does. I can break the glamour, and we can get a good look at Lachlan. But there may be a chance that he isn't aware of it or why it's there. He grew up in foster care, no family connections." Lucian posed the possibility that Lachlan knew nothing of his origin or associations.

“Do you think he might be Fae?” Cullen glanced up at Lucian curiously.

"They've been known to hide their children when in danger," Lucian said and then added. "He was abandoned at a fire hall. Perhaps whoever left him was unable to come back for him."

“I think we need to discuss this with Harkin and get his permission to break the glamour.”

Harkin carried his mate to the bathroom and cleaned them both up with a warm washcloth. He wanted to offer a shower together but saw uncertainty clouding his mate's eyes. He had a lot to come to terms with, and Harkin didn't want to push too hard in case he ended up losing ground. The fact that Lachlan was so amorous and seemed to enjoy their time together was a bonus so far. He would do nothing that would threaten their budding relationship.

He'd gotten a few things out in the open and Lachlan needed the space and time to accept. He hadn’t approached the Fae identity with him, of course, but they would deal with that tomorrow. Yes, those were questions for tomorrow.

"This is so bizarre." Lachlan sat on the bathroom counter next to the sink as he let Harkin clean him with a wonderfully soft washcloth. The fact that he wasn't stopping Harkin from spreading his legs and getting into the delicate creases of his groin puzzled him but didn't alarm Lachlan.

Harkin handled him like he was precious to him, yet they had only met yesterday and under very disturbing circumstances. Why was Harkin treating him like a lover and why did he feel like he wanted to be Harkin's lover?

Harkin glanced up at his mate and smiled at his soft words of bewilderment. “Why bizarre?”

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because I'm sitting here naked while you clean the dried cum from my dick, that is presently resting in your palm. Mostly I think it is because I don't mind and actually I'm quite enjoying watching you do it." Lachlan let himself go, and his face burst into a huge smile. "My life has changed so much in the last couple of days.
